About New Narrative

Colourful florals for an event planned by a celebration of life planner at New Narrative

A steady guide when a traditional funeral doesn’t feel quite like your person.

Planning a memorial can feel unfamiliar and overwhelming. We bring structure, clarity, and calm so you can focus on honouring your person and being with your community - not on managing logistics.

“From my first phone call, I felt a sense of relief knowing I was in good hands. Christina helped us focus on what mattered while taking care of the details. We were able to be present and truly experience the day ourselves.”

Our Philosophy:

A blank notebook and an open mind

Armed with a blank notebook, ready for your ideas, we will be here, ready to listen to what you have in mind, ask questions to learn about the person we are honouring, and get to know more about your community.

We approach each memorial with the care, patience, and attentiveness we would offer our own family: guidance for decisions, clarifying details, and creating the space for your community to step in where desired.

Our process is always collaborative: we will be there to take on as much or as little as you need.

We were trying so hard to ‘do right by him,’ and we know we nailed it. The celebration felt true to who he was. You understood the assignment and delivered something incredible.

Meet Christina

My goal is to help you break free from the memorials that feel like “one of a thousand” and instead create a one of one experience for your community.

When my uncle died, I wanted to create an experience that reflected his unique life story, his dynamic personality, and his values.

In 2016, with a phone full of contacts and an event date, I planned a celebration of life for my uncle Brett in under two weeks. It was just like planning any other event, right?

I thought my corporate and wedding event planning background could help. There was one problem: I had never done this kind of planning before.

Instead of grieving this massive loss, I spent so much time reading articles, watching dated YouTube videos, and trying to explore every option I could in order to figure out what was right for our family.

Instead of asking for help, I was making *detailed* technical instructions for our funeral director to follow, calling to ask for catering quotes, and scanning countless photos, when all I really wanted to do was rest and, frankly, be really sad that I just lost my uncle.

After his celebration of life, I decided to create New Narrative: an events company solely focused on planning Celebration of Life events.

I want New Narrative to be the company that you can turn to to guide you through the planning process. A company that encourages you to create the event that your person would have wanted and one that you have planned - on your terms - and one that you are proud to share with your community.

At New Narrative we are proud to partner with a variety hand-selected vendors to meet our clients’ specific needs, every time.
